I love weddings… and I love newborn sessions… but there is something so rewarding and gratifying when creating a headshot for someone. In an age of instant gratification and digital technology, personal connections are made online now. Your first contact with people are through your website, facebook, or email… Whether it is rightly justified or not, we are all judged from that first impression, and I feel like it is so vital to make sure it sends the message you want it to. Current headshots are one of the most important tools for any business person. People see who you are and are more likely to want to work with you. In contrast, an unflattering, badly posed or technically inferior headshot can work against you. You may be sending the message that you do not take yourself seriously, are not professional or may not give your client the attention he deserves.
I find myself all too often searching facebook for the new client that just called to inquire about my services. While I listen to their needs, I am also curious to see who they are and what their style and interests are. I can tell more in 3 seconds looking at a profile picture than I can after a 30 minute conversation with the person about their likes/dislikes.
This summer/fall I really have enjoyed being able to update people’s headshots. Whether it is for the business exec that needs a more professional presence on his website or the stay at home mom that just wants a flattering image to show off for all those long lost high school friends on facebook, creating a headshot that you can feel great about is so rewarding!
Anyway, on to the photos… Meet Stephanie… yoga instructor… She contacted me to get some updated headshots for her website and marketing material. (yeah!) I wish I knew more about yoga, but that is so far out of my comfort zone that I won’t even pretend to know what I’m talking about. I was in absolute awe as I watched (almost forgetting to take the picture) as she pulled off some pretty insane poses. But what I have showcased here are a few of my favorite headshots from our session.
