The Gibbs Family

Just another beautiful spring day here in AZ with a wonderful family…  My friend, Tori, asked if I would shoot some family pictures of her family when everyone came to town this spring, and I jumped on this opportunity!  The desert has been so gorgeous this spring; I was really excited to take them to one of my favorite spots for their session.  I’m a little nervous though… they had some family pictures done last year in Idaho, but were really disappointed in what the photographer up there did… I never did see those images, but I hope I haven’t disappointed them again!  :)

OK, my 6-year old was telling me that it takes a saguaro cactus 50 years to grow an arm… I’m not sure if this is true or not, but WOW… check this one out!!!!   We’re just going to pretend that I planned some great symbolism here with the matriarch/patriarch of the family with their children and grandchildren…

Maternity Session in Pinnacle Peak

Meet Jessica… she and her husband are expecting a little girl in a just a few weeks!  I know… she is gorgeous.  I can’t believe she had any hesitation about doing a maternity photo shoot - she looks incredible.  I know, I know… I did not like my picture taken during that time either!  You are the heaviest you have ever been… tired, bloated, and just not ever FEELING beautiful, but the funny thing is, pregnancy in and of itself is such a beautiful experience.  It is the first “milestone” image for the baby book and, especially for first-time parents, I just LOVE the sweet romantic anticipation of the unknown.  It is these last few weeks of that undivided love and attention between the two of you. I just love these following images of Jessica and Kevin together:

3 months and growing

Remember this little guy?  Well, he is growing up… and filling out!!!!  He is such a cute little tank and reminds me so much of my boys when they were 3 months old… just SOLID!  He was a trooper during this session… Very sleepy and tired there at the end.  We had to work hard to get these little smiles, but boy was it worth it!  He is full of personality and determination.  As soon as I would put the camera down and say, “great job, we’re done!” He would give me the biggest smiles… I would pick the camera back up again, and he would instantly be sad and uncooperative.  It was a cute and fun game… that he eventually won, but that’s OK… I managed to grab a few great ones before that!  :)

I have been waiting for months to meet this little guy!  And he was worth the wait - a complete super-star all the way!  Little Barrett was such a great model I really could have shot all day and into the night!!!
