Newborn - Little Miss Ava

I have been so excited about meeting this little sweetie! She is absolutely perfect and was quite the model! If I get my way, there will be lots of photo sessions in this little girl’s future.

Look at those baby blues!  This image was brightened, but her eyes really did reflect that light beautifully in this particular image.  Wow!

Bobby the Cat

bobby

Affectionately named by my dad (aka Hepa) and my boys.  My parents have long fought the idea of owning another dog.  With the upcoming move of my sister, Anne, and her little yorkie, apparently Bobby thought it might be a good idea to move in and help them get used to having an animal around again.  He has visited my parents’ yard a few times on occasion, but today, he was quite comfortable (and I assume trying to stay cool in this 115 degree weather) right up in the plants next to the house.

You can see how close he really is in these pictures of the kids looking out the dining room window at him.

Finally after enough window banging and teasing, he decided to walk off and leave, only to return later this afternoon after the kids and I have left.  However, we all think he might not be as soft and cuddly as he first appeared… what do you think?  Anne… I’m thinking a doggy door for Abby might not be a good idea!

Anne — Yeah. No wandering in the yard for Abby on her own!! Maybe she needs her own small enclosed area with a top on it so Bobby wouldn't have any access!!! Not quite sure how that would work though... Maybe I'll send Bobby up to your house. Reeces would be a much better meal for him than Abby's whole 4 lbs of hair and bones.   ( July 18, 2009 @ 10:24 pm )

Jane — Bobby was quite comfortable in the yard yesterday. He even came back for a third time. We haven't seen him yet this morning though. He might have gotten tired of being wakened by kids, cameras, and the lawn mower. As cute as he is, we're kind of hoping he doesn't make our yard his permanent home.   ( July 19, 2009 @ 9:55 am )

janalee — Don't you know the rule about naming a pet? Now you all are attached to this (have you forgotten) WILD animal!! Cute now but not so much in a few months...   ( July 22, 2009 @ 9:13 pm )

Sonntag Family

Probably one of the most photogenic families I have photographed… Besides the intense heat (112 degrees… June 29th… really, who does this?), this was such an easy and fun shoot!  I LOVE the colors they chose - I’m thinking they are going to have a hard time choosing a favorite… they may just have to decorate every room!  :)

OK, I just had to post this one… they were laughing at me here making them stand in a line like that.  I know that this is going to be a favorite!  :)

Jane — Such cute family pictures. How can everyone be so happy when it was SO HOT?   ( July 19, 2009 @ 9:53 am )

Mandy — I love the colors they chose! They are all great, but the last picture is my absolute favorite. I don't think anyone has seen Pete pose like that. :) I do hope they frame that one.   ( July 19, 2009 @ 8:26 pm )

4th of July Family Fun

family

Happy Fourth of July!  OK, I know it is the 17th, but we can still celebrate!

My mom and I took the kids up to Pinetop to play in the cool weather for the week.  My dad and Mike joined us for the holiday weekend, and we had a BLAST!  It was perfect weather!  The kids were able to run around outside, ride bikes, hike, and play.

I am so excited that the boys are FINALLY getting to the age where they start playing together.  Usually not hugs and smiles all the time - OK, so usually they are creating mischief and fighting, but they are doing it TOGETHER, and that’s what counts, right?

This is very classic… Parker starts something, and Ryan is right there, trying to keep up… and now, Kate wants to make sure she is not left out!  She MUST do everything her big brothers do!

Do you see why this little girl pretty much has us all wrapped around her little finger?  I know this is going to come back and get us one day, but for now, she WINS!

On July 3rd, we went into Show Low and attended the Rodeo.  It was a BLAST!  The kids absolutely loved it!  Again… if the boys can do it, so can Kate.  I love this series!

Then for the 4th, we went back into Show Low to the high school there.  They had a big carnival set up - bounce houses, food, games, a band… we had a blanket and sat out enjoying the incredible weather and having a great time.  Mike has been training for a marathon, so the boys have been very interested in running lately, they were THRILLED with the track that went around the field here…

And probably one of my favorite pictures of the whole week… Parker and my parents on the blanket getting ready for the HOUR long fireworks show to start.  We all had such a great time!  It was probably one of the best 4th of July’s!  It was the first time we had taken the kids to go see fireworks (usually we are swimming and catch a glimse from our house), so this was a real treat.  And so much more enjoyable up north rather than sitting in 105 degree weather in Scottsdale!

Andrea — Great series Marnee.. Thanks for sharing something from the personal side of life.   ( July 17, 2009 @ 4:30 pm )

Anne — So when did Ryan become the oldest child? He looks so much older and bigger than Parker in the first few pictures. And yes - Kate definitely deserves to have you guys wrapped around her finger. How could you resist?!   ( July 17, 2009 @ 4:42 pm )

Kristina — Such great pictures - looks like you had a great time! I need to get out of Scottsdale for the 4th next year - I about melted this year :)   ( July 17, 2009 @ 6:48 pm )

Jen — You have so many great pics in this!! I love them. I have to admit this is the FIRST year I didn't buy a single festive outfit for the kids OR take ANY pictures. I'm not proud of that, but shocking for me I suppose. Great pics!!   ( July 18, 2009 @ 4:04 am )

Lindsay — I LOVE these pics! Question- when did Ryan become the biggest kid of the bunch? These look so fun- miss you guys!   ( July 18, 2009 @ 5:53 am )

Jane — Love the pictures and loved the week in Pinetop even more. We should make it a tradition! Thanks for the fun times.   ( July 18, 2009 @ 10:42 am )

Becca — I had the same thought as Anne. Ryan looks so tall sitting on the bench. I had to do a double take to realize which one was which. Looks like lots of fun   ( July 18, 2009 @ 2:26 pm )

Facebook Love

images

Yes, I am in love.  My husband thinks I have a not so secret love affair with facebook.  It is true.  I’m not even going to deny it.  I will even go so far to admit that it is my source of breaking news these days… as in, “Did you know that MJ died” or “Jillian really did get rid of Reid”, or “did you know that T is pregnant with her fourth and having a girl?”

Yes… as much as Mike likes to make fun of my obsession, he is seeing the value of this incredible social network.  I love the birthday calendar… I will remember your birthday - as long as  you are a FB friend.  I also love status updates!  I love to know how my nieces and nephews are doing.  I like to hear about what’s going on with some old college friends.  I know I may be insensitive and rude, but it is just enough information to keep me happy without having to pick up the phone and have an hour long conversation!  I mean, yes, we need to make time for that every once in a while, but life is so busy… it is nice to keep updated and know when to call.  Like, “did you know that her aunt just died?” or “looks like she is running the marathon too!”

I have found great ideas for dinner, movie reviews, mechanics, computer help, comic relief, places to travel… And I have found a very powerful networking tool.  In this age of instant gratification and the need to share everything, facebook has become an invaluable tool for my business.  I am able to post images and tag my clients.  Instantly their friends and family can see what we have done for them… share, and comment on the images.

I am very lucky to have such wonderful clients… clients that I have become friends with through our photography sessions and facebook.

So, if you are not on facebook yet… it is way past time!  Time to check it out!  It’s like the cell phone… how did we ever live before it?

If you haven’t yet, please add Marriott Photography to your fan page:  http://www.facebook.com/marriottphoto .  I will be working on some promotions and specials that I will be presenting through the fan page.  I will also keep it updated with current work and it is my goal to do a monthly photography tip that I will post there on how to improve your own snapshots.

And because everyone loves to have more friends… I would love to be yours… you can find me at http://www.facebook.com/marnee.marriott.

Mike — Yes, I need to share your love with Facebook. But Facebook can't give you a foot massage...   ( July 16, 2009 @ 5:38 pm )
