This shoot was so fun to be a part of! Last May, I had the opportunity to do some pictures of Kristy and Lee for their application to become adoptive parents. Well, needless to say, they were chosen immediately (I know… not a huge surprise) and now they have little Baylee in their lives. Kristy’s parents and sister’s family all flew in from NY, so a family photo session was in order!

Kristy, Lee and Baylee…. cute family! Baylee is so fun. She loves movement. She was as happy as could be when you are walking around with her, but the moment I had them sit or hold still… she would just get antsy and anxious to start going again. Granted, it was a long, warm morning. She was such a trooper… and quite the center of attention!

And of course… the only thing cuter than three adorable cousins is three adorable cousins in matching dresses!

This is one of my favorite things about photographing sisters…. just doesn’t seem to work quite the same when I try this with my boys.

And finally, the last word from Miss Baylee. It had been a long, hot, morning… she was a rockstar, and “for goodness sake’s mom and dad, we’re in public! ewwww!”

A big thank you to Mike, my mom, and dad who really stepped in this weekend to take care of the kids, frost Easter cookies, pick up the Easter candy at the last minute, dye Easter eggs, and organize the meals and egg hunt. I ended up with strep this weekend and was out. Completely out. Like I didn’t move off of the couch for 2 full days. In all honesty, it really came at a perfect time. The one weekend I didn’t have shoots or a wedding; and on a weekend when I had help available. Thanks guys for allowing me to get the much needed rest and sleep… and for taking over all of the holiday festivities. It was hard to sit back and not participate (read: direct), but you did great and the kids had a great weekend!

The egg hunt was over and done so quick that I didn’t even get one shot of them collecting eggs this year. Note to Easter Bunny next year… a little trickier hiding for the sake of a good picture! But we did attempt one quick family photo. I have to post just because it really was a negotiation process.

And although Easter is such a fun time of year to celebrate birth (watching the baby birds hatch and fly away in our front yard), enjoy the outdoors, decorate cookies, dye eggs, and have egg hunts, I hope that in the midst of all of this, my kids will learn and remember the real reason for the holiday:
At this Easter season of hope and renewal we testify of the glorious reality of the atonement and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The empty tomb brought comforting assurance and provided the answer to the question of Job, “If a man die, shall he live again?” (Job 14:14). Because of the Savior’s resurrection we will overcome death and become the beneficiaries of His mercy and grace. In a world of trouble and uncertainty, His peace fills our hearts and eases our minds. Jesus is in very deed “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Jesus is the Christ. Though He was crucified, He rose triumphant from the tomb to our everlasting blessing and benefit. To each member of the human family He stands as our Advocate, our Savior, and our Friend.
