Rachael and Chase

It has been a busy few weeks.  I was able to go to SLC to shoot my cousin’s wedding.  (OK, my cousin’s daughter, but saying that makes me feel OLD… and since I had a birthday 2 days before the wedding, I don’t need any other reminders.)

This AZ girl was really excited to do a UT winter wedding.  Snow?  Jackets? Gloves?  What is that?!  Well, let me tell you… IT WAS FUN!  OK, cold, but so fun to do something so totally different.

These guys were great.  Rachael was dressed for the winter wedding (unlike several other brides we saw on the Temple grounds in short sleeves).  I just love how her cape works with the freshly fallen snow!

We were so lucky to have timed the day just right - every time we were outside it had stopped snowing… and even had blue skies for a couple minutes.  But snowed enough to give us a brand-new fresh blanket of snow to make everything BEAUTIFUL.

I love this shot of them walking out of the Temple with the snow blowing…

Mike came along with me to assist at the wedding and to celebrate my birthday… it was so fun to work with him again… it’s been a LONG time since I have had him shoot a wedding with me.  He got this shot below.  I LOVE IT!

This was a new one for me… these flowers were used on Rachael’s mom’s cake when she got married.  She had saved them and Rachael thought it would be neat to use them on her wedding cake!

I normally don’t include “formals” on my blog.  They are  usually kind of boring to look at, but this one is pretty special… this is my Aunt Diana, Rachael and her mom, Trisha (my cousin), and my grandma.  It is pretty neat when I get to shoot a wedding and have the grandparents there, but I don’t think I have done too many weddings with 4 generations!  Can you believe my grandma… 92 years old and still traveling all over!

I love all of these details.  Her dress was gorgeous… LOVE the flowers, and I love the rings just barely showing in this picture.

And of course, the sparklers shot.  One day I will get sick of this, I am sure, but I still love it.

Kate and John - engaged!

I am really excited to work with Kate and John on their fast-approaching wedding at the AZ Country Club.  I knew this had to be a great connection when I first met Kate and learned her name, Kate Elizabeth, is the same as my daughter’s.  This girl has got to have some good taste!  :)

We headed out to the Waterfront and Old Town Scottsdale to get some engagement shots.  I just love what we got!

This time of year…

This is such a busy time of year, but it is nice to sit back and really think about the true meaning and reason we celebrate Christmas.

This morning we received a phone call that my husband’s grandmother passed away.  This was expected, and today we are celebrating her 91 years of a very rich life.  I have had such a wonderful privilege of knowing her for the last 15 years.

The sad news is, we are on our way to UT tomorrow to shoot a cousins wedding and were hoping to be able to visit with her and say our goodbyes.  One day too late.  It has been such a reminder to me to make sure that we tell all of those we love how we feel and make sure we are not “one day too late”.  I need to remember to slow down a bit and enjoy the time I have with my kids and wonderful family and friends.

We are grateful for Nami and the wonderful example she was in our lives.  We are excited that she has returned home to be with her Heavenly Father and her dear husband that passed several years ago.  We are reminded of our Savior’s sacrafice and the true reason we celebrate Christmas.

With all that being said, I will now get back to adressing some work items… I have several posts and images that I need to get to clients.  I do apologize.  I sincerely tried to get these done before we left, but just didn’t.  They are on the TOP of my to-do list upon my return.

If you need to get ahold of us, please feel free to email or call… I will be checking messages.

Jen — Wow...so sad and so sweet! You are right...its this time of year we keep most sacred to spend with our loved ones...sadly, for you and I and many others it's also the time of year we spend so little time with our loved ones!! I hope your visit to Utah, while bittersweet, afforded you a needed break and time with dear loved ones!   ( December 15, 2008 @ 5:55 pm )

The Rawls Family

I love this family!  Jef and I have been friends for YEARS… (yeah… we’re THAT old, Jef)!  Mike and I just love hanging out with Shurlin and Jef.  They have 2 boys and a girl all about our kids’ ages… we just wish they lived closer… and didn’t have a SUPER fun business that keeps them busy every weekend night… (not like I have too many of those free either).  Seriously, though… if you are in the Scottsdale area, you have to check out their comedy-improv troupe at Theater 168… the Jester’z.  It’s family friendy and sooooo fun!

I guess this is what they mean when the kids are climbing the walls…

Aren’t big brother’s the best?  They help you with everything… even getting that perfect smile for your picture!

Mandy — These turned out perfectly! I can't wait for the stage in life where my kids cooperate for pictures. I may have to wait a very, very, very long time. Laura, this should fix your Christmas card problem. :)   ( December 8, 2008 @ 3:07 pm )
